
Rosie Perez, born Rosa Maria Perez 7 September, 1964 is an American actress and choreographer. Her breakout role as Tina in Do the Right Thing (1989) was followed by White Men Can't jump (1992). Perez was nominated for an Academy Award as Best Supporting Actress for her role in Fearless (1993). Perez has starred in many films since that time, including It Could Happen to You (1994), The Road to El Dorado ((2000), Pineapple Express (2008) and Birds of Prey (2021). She was nominated for three Primetime Emmy Award nominations, one for In Living Color (1990-1994) as well as another nomination for her performance in the role of The Flight Attendant (2020-2021). In addition, she has been featured in Broadway playslike The Ritz and Frankie and Johnny in the Clair de Lune and Fish in the Dark. She also co-hosted the 18th season of ABC's talk show The View. She was a student at Grover Cleveland High School, located in the Ridgewood neighborhood of Queens. By 1999, her mother was living in poverty at the Woodside Houses, when she died from complications of AIDS.
