Anita Sarkeesian has been a Canadian and American feminist media critic for more than 20 years. She's also an accomplished public speaker. Feminist Frequency was established by Sarkeesian. It hosts video clips which include commentary on the representations of women that are prevalent in the media and popular culture of today. Anita Sarkeesian, a Canadian-American journalist and critic that has received accolades for her work. She is a feminist blogger. Feminist Frequency, a website for education that examines women's positions in the pop culture narratives, is her brainchild. She also serves as the director of operations. Aiming to break down the stereotypes that are associated with females in pop culture she also is a vocal advocate for issues relating to harassment targeted at women as well as other classes of people in the online environment. Sarkeesian holds a bachelor's degree in social thought and politics from York University. She is also an internationally acclaimed public speaking. Sarkeesian gave speeches to the TEDxWomen Festival as well as to the United Nations Broadband Working Group. She was fascinated by gender issues and feminism at a early time. In 2009, while in university she launched her Feminist Frequency site. As of 2009, this ambitious young lady was harassed on the internet for her website featuring a series about gender and videogames. She was not deterred by the assault, in fact it only reinforced her determination to be an expert on media and feminism. Numerous awards have been given to her as a way of acknowledging her contributions to the field she made. Anita Sarkeesian is an award winning media critic and the creator of Feminist Frequency an educational and non-profit organization that explores the representations of women in pop media stories.
